Meet Your Instructor

GG sewing in the garden

My sewing journey began at a young age, inspired and taught by my mother. It has remained a lifelong passion that has shaped both my career and personal life.

After training at Central Saint Martins in London, I spent over a decade working in the fashion industry as a pattern cutter, designer, and sewing instructor. These years gave me invaluable experience in both the creative and technical aspects of fashion design.

Having worked alongside renowned designers such as Jean Muir, Roland Mouret, Matthew Williamson, and Jonathan Saunders, I've gathered a wealth of skills, tips, and techniques that I'm eager to share with my students.

Now, I bring all this professional experience back to our local community in Balerno. My classes are designed to be welcoming and supportive, whether you're taking your first stitches or looking to refine advanced techniques. I believe in taking time to understand each student's individual goals and pace, ensuring everyone feels confident and capable.

In my classes, I incorporate traditional techniques, including conditioning thread with natural beeswax from our family hives—a practice that connects modern sewing with time-honored craftsmanship. If you'd like to learn more about this traditional craft or source your own natural beeswax and handmade polishes, you're welcome to get in touch. Our local Balerno honey is also available through Fine Local Honey, the UK marketplace for real honey from local beekeepers.

What I love most about teaching is seeing students gain confidence and discover their creative potential. I truly believe that sewing is a skill anyone can master with patience and practice, and I look forward to helping you discover the joy of creating something beautiful with your own hands.
